Hi, I’m Devon, and I was made to make things.
Currently I am working on making antibiotic-resistant bacteria killable again1.
In the recent past:
- I completed my PhD where I developed a diagnostic platform that operates similarly to a pregnancy test, but is more sensitive, and requires a fraction of the time and sample needed.
- This device works by using a process I developed called “Lateral Isotachophoresis Guided Migration Analysis” to manipulate functionalized nanoprobes based on their charge in an electric field. I call it a LIGMA Assay for short (Don’t laugh).
- I taught myself a dead and pointless writing style that allows you to write up to 200 words/minute. Now I teach people on the internet how to do it2.
- I was president and captain of the Rowing team at my university, which required me to work alongside the head coach to manage our officer corps, $300,000 annual budget, travel, roster, and competition schedule.
- After graduation, I was hired as the Freshmen Coach, a role that funded my Master’s degree.
- I rebuilt a vintage motorcycle in my living room.
- I started recording my EP (you can expect it May 2025!)
Some things I am fascinated by:
- Molecular programming3
- Microbial suicide 🙁
- DeSci, and whether blockchain infrastructure could revolutionize how we fund and execute scientific research, making it more transparent, collaborative, and accessible.
- Planned obsolescence for good
- The return to analog
